Para ahli intelijen menilai penerimaan AS terhadap syarat-syarat Iran sebagai kemunduran strategis. Hal ini merugikan posisi Israel di Lebanon.
Mantan Pejabat Mossad Sima Shine mengatakan, "It's difficult to understand why the Americans accepted it.
By allowing Iran to decide what will happen in Lebanon, the US is giving Iran the possibility to continue to support Hezbollah."
Menanggapi kritik, Perdana Menteri Benjamin Netanyahu menegaskan komitmennya membatasi kapabilitas nuklir Teheran.
"I have devoted most of my adult life to one goal—preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons," ujarnya.
Netanyahu menyatakan tidak akan membatasi diri demi memastikan Iran tidak menguasai senjata pemusnah massal. "We will do what is necessary.
I do not limit myself in any way on this goal: Iran will not have nuclear weapons," tegasnya.
Namun, ia mengakui adanya keretakan pandangan dengan Presiden AS.
"I have expressed my views in discussions, but we have our own interests: first, no nuclear threat; second, Lebanon - we created a buffer zone and will remain there as long as necessary," aku Netanyahu.

Ia mengklaim posisi kerasnya berhasil mencegah mundurnya pasukan Israel dari wilayah perbatasan yang dituntut Iran. "Iran wanted us to withdraw - that did not happen.
You know why? Because I stood very firm," tuturnya.
Netanyahu juga mengklaim tindakan militernya telah menjauhkan bahaya pemusnahan massal.
"We removed, for years to come, this danger hanging over us of the elimination of Israel’s population," klaimnya.
Analis riset keamanan senior Danny Citrinowicz menilai kegagalan taktis ini memerlukan perombakan total prioritas militer Israel. "Israel's failure requires a renewed assessment of its strategy towards Tehran," katanya.
Citrinowicz menambahkan bahwa ruang gerak Netanyahu untuk melangkahi keputusan Gedung Putih melalui Kongres kini tertutup.
"Unlike during the Obama administration, when Benjamin Netanyahu could try to bypass the White House by mobilising support in Congress and in US public opinion, those options barely exist at this time," paparnya.
